About Ron Andrews
I paint for the shear joy of the challenge of capturing a feeling or mood and communicating it to a viewer. I paint a variety of subjects from landscapes (realistic to abstract), to florals, to still life, to abstracted shapes. Each is viewed as a different opportunity and challenge to achieve my objective.
I use artistic license to amplify or exaggerate some elements of the subject to better communicate the essential emotion. Examples are exaggerated colors to help set a mood, powerful contrasts of light and dark to focus attention, unique perspectives to create interest, and diverse textures to please the eye as well as to create compelling interest. My intent is to convey an emotion to be shared by the viewer.
I work with watercolor exclusively. Watercolor offers a unique spontaneity as pigments blend on wet paper to mimic the infinite diversity and subtleties found in nature. If a viewer experiences a compelling mood, an emotional excitement, and sustained interest, I have achieved a measure of success.
Ron’s work has been accepted and exhibited in multiple juried shows - local, national and international.
