About Clare Batley
I enjoy creating art on a large scale to express the sense of drama that I observe in the subjects I'm painting. In my figure drawings and paintings, I try to capture a mood or emotion in the subject and bring it to life. I consider a painting successful when I have managed to portray a mood or emotion in my subject, whether it is a figure or an inanimate object. Although I started out painting watercolors, I now paint primarily with acrylics, while still painting in watercolor occasionally. I also enjoy creating journals, printmaking, and photography.
