From whimsical to serious, my watercolor painting and decorative illustration all share a passion for detail and the natural world. I love to paint highly detailed and realistic close-ups. Food, florals, and succulents are a passion for me – so much wonderful detail to explore! I work in transparent watercolor, and strive for a contemporary feel to this traditional medium.
My whimsical illustrations, for both the young and the young-at-heart, are known for their humor, character, and detail. Watercolor plus pen & ink gives this work bold detail and brightness.
I am currently pursuing three avenues in my art, each focusing on flora and fauna: Fine Art Watercolor, Animal/Character Illustrations, and Science/Nature Illustrations and murals.
My work is exhibited at Gallery House (Palo Alto), and Gallery 24 (Los Gatos). I have exhibited in many juried shows and have won awards for both my fine art watercolor painting and my children’s illustrations. I studied Illustration at the Academy of Art University (BFA, 2011). Since then, I have studied with great watercolorists including Carol Carter, Kathleen Alexander, Terri Hill and Ted Nuttall, Guy Magallenes, and pen & ink master John Stoeckley. I often combine my love of teaching and love of painting and drawing by teaching art classes to all ages.
