Using watercolor, Babbitt tends to work quickly, with an upright easel, applying light washes and building up to the heavier ones. She is inspired by the challenge of capturing the subject’s likeness and mood. She likes to meet the client and work on-site and also enjoys working from her client’s favorite photos to create gifts and “in memoriam” portraits.
Her studio is located at Museum Studios, a department of the Peninsula Museum of Art. She is currently a senior designer at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Her exhibit illustration work was recently published in “Exhibit Labels: An Interpretive Approach 2nd Edition” by Beverly Serrell.
