For years after graduating with my BFA I focused on layering and the passage of time - or at least the change that occurs in the work because of time. While this is often still the case, what catches my eye more now is the overlooked and the humorous. Small moments can hold significant strength if we choose to be aware.
I try not to take the work (or myself) too seriously, and because through teaching, I have become more playful in my approach. While I often amuse myself with colorful and unique animals, I also use hand lettering as part of my ink drawings to convey my philosophy and ideas. My tongue in cheek approach inspires me to work daily, and the ideas often come from the fleeting moments which make up our daily lives.
I will have newly printed t-shirts based off of my imagery that are perfect for the summer, gifts, or as a complement to an original (or print from an original) piece of art for sale as well. Please check my website for more information.
