My watercolors and mixed media art celebrate all aspects of life – the various cultures and countries to which I have traveled for business and pleasure, the local sites, scenes and people I have encountered along the way, and the stunning landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes that make up this incredible planet. My watercolors are realistic and, while not photographic, they are a representation of the beauty I see everywhere. I taught watercolor classes at the Mt. View/Los Altos Senior Center for three and a half years and at Hill View Community Center in Los Altos and increased my class sizes from 12 to 70 students. I am currently teaching watercolor classes at the Los Altos Community Center at Grant Park and at www.DetatArt.com in Sunnyvale.
In 2005, I fell in love with roosters when I attended the Santa Cruz County Fair for the first time and saw the Poultry Exhibit. I had no idea how many shapes, sizes and colors were represented in these birds. I especially enjoy naming these works – “What a Cocky Attitude”, “This Chick’s a Knockout” and “Here’s Looking at You, Chick” are a few of the unique tongue-in-cheek titles.
