I am a artist who works both in 2-D and 3-D. I work with paper mache, assemblage, collage, encaustic, acrylics, and clay. My work is primarily abstract and involves an emphasis on found objects and collections of various paraphernalia. Color, form, whimsy and humor are present in my work.
Having graduated with a BFA from Ohio State University with an emphasis in the ceramic arts, I for many years produced ceramic sculpture and functional pottery. The 3-D work will consist of paper mache, clay and encaustic medium. The 2-D work focuses primarily on texture and color with differing degrees of opacity or transparency because of the encaustic medium. My work is really quite celebratory...taking familiar objects or discarded objects and lifting them to a position of honor. I love the shine of metallic materials and yet I love the organic themes of nature. Sometimes when looking at my work I smile-- reassembling memories of the past from the items at hand.
