What draws me to an artwork is the fine balance between seen and unseen, wherein the artist raises questions for me to answer. And those answers change over time.
As a figurative painter, I engage in storytelling--the juxtaposition of one or more figures in unexpected settings tells a more complex story. Prior work in abstraction and mixed media informs my current painting. Varied painting tools and techniques add depth and texture to the surface. Graffiti often finds a place on the canvas.
Because I haven't participated in Open Studios in several years, visitors will see all new work, including a recently completed series incorporating animals (mostly dogs) and my quirky sense of humor. Plus several larger paintings fresh off the easel from my current series.
