Steven taught high school level art and ceramics for ten years until he had an opportunity to teach what soon became his true passion … photography! He has taught photo for more than 30 years at both high school and adult education levels. Steven has participated in many photographic competitions and exhibits, and has had his work published in B&W Magazine.
Steven uses film cameras, develops film, and produces prints in his own darkroom. His subject matter varies, but he mainly focuses on urban and natural landscape. He concentrates on photographing smaller, intimate areas rather than grand vistas and likes to create a “slice” of the environment he finds of interest.
Currently Steven is working on an urban series entitled “Now and Then” where he explores the changing City of San Jose landscape, specifically its signs and buildings that have been forgotten, taken for granted, or are at risk of disappearing. Steven also has ongoing series that he revisits time and again: Alum Rock Park, Alviso, and anything else that catches his eye.
