I use minakari, an ancient Persian form of enameling, to explore the concepts of belonging, identity and connection. My art is fueled by the memories of my childhood growing up as a minority group in Iran, to my life as an immigrant in Sweden and America.
Minakari is more than just a medium for me. It’s a binding force to my Persian roots where the intricate art of minakari is woven with poets such as Rumi, Hafez and Omar Khayyam. My work gives a modern voice to this ancient art, yet preserves the sentiment and poetry that is woven into the art of minakari.
