My passion is to create bold and vibrant contemporary landscape paintings. Incorporating both the palette knife and brush, I create various layers and textures that help give each painting its own dimension. My favorite subject matters include landscapes of California, Hawaii, and France – particularly the Provence region. My style has been influenced by Cloisonnism, Fauvism, and Post-Impressionism. Occasionally I'll adjust the painting style to capture a scene such as a cityscape in a way which better fits how I want to interpret it.
Being primarily a self-taught artist, I often visit museums and galleries in the US and Europe, studying techniques and composition, sketching, and taking an occasional workshop from artists with a variety of backgrounds. One of my favorite activities is to paint on the same locations where the artists who have influenced my style made many of their masterpieces. For example, there's something magical painting in the same olive tree orchard which Van Gogh painted at in Saint Remy de Provence.
My paintings can be found with private and corporate collectors in the US, Canada, Asia, and Europe. I’ve been represented by galleries in Houston, Carmel and Saratoga.
