Sylvia Min is a conceptually based interdisciplinary artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries and art institutions throughout the United States. Common themes in her work are domesticity, portraiture, in-between spaces, and reframing the seemingly mundane. She is currently working on a series of paintings and prints called "The Last Day". "The Last Day" is inspired by the last day she was at the beach with her family. It is an attempt to capture something that is not fully tangible and fleeting. It also reflects her interest in scientific research that suggests that humans alter and rewrite their memories every time the memories are recalled. "The Last Day" series is a record of a memory, but she also feels that they are adaptations and deviations of the original experience. In essence, they are a depiction of a memory of a memory.
