I first learned ceramic arts in college in Texas, studying under Ruth Kahn. My professional career went in a different direction, but when I retired, the potter’s wheel called to me again. I am now fortunate to work with Bay area master potters Danny Sheu and Hsin Chuen Lin.
In much of my work the round form that comes off the wheel is just the beginning. I paddle, prod, alter, and texture the piece to make it visually interesting and unique. I also work with flat slabs of clay to create highly decorated, but functional, serving pieces.
My latest project is a series of stoneware fish as wall art. They are effective singly or hung as a group.
All of my work is high fired, lead free, dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe.
