I'd been doing ceramic for twenty-five or thirty years before I was 'asked' for an artist's statement. I could easily say I was making fish, or horses, or rose teapots, but to make a statement about my work or my life??. I make beautiful (I hope) things because I think beauty is an antidote to ugly & sad & impoverished (plenty of that around) and a valuable addition to human existence in any case. My work is often seen as whimsical, but I would call it a serious whimsy: humor is another necessity in this world. Some of my work can be seen at The Peninsula Museum of Art, in Burlingame, and some at ACCi Gallery in Berkeley.
