About Shilpi Banka

I grew up in India and moved to California in my twenties to pursue a career in technology. I have always loved to draw so when the opportunity arose to become a full-time artist and illustrator, I took it. I work in oils and pastels

I love the meditative nature of making art, and noticing the changes in emotions as familiarity with the subject increases. I like to paint loosely and draw freely. I believe the medium is superior to any rules and the beauty of it must be allowed to reflect in the artwork.

I draw and paint landscapes, still life, and portraits. I have also illustrated a book for students of Piano that features Indian music.
