I believe we are all born with a creative spirit and it’s up to us to grow that spirit and try to find a way to share it with others. Art can show a wide range of emotions from sorrow to excitement, joy and outrage, passion and despair. It can be simple or complicated in nature. It is our challenge as artists to learn how to express those emotions and reach out and touch our audience.
Retired from the corporate world in 2002, my husband and I moved from the Bay Area to the Netherlands in Northern Europe while he ran operations for an American based company. I was blessed to visit many art galleries and study the old masters on my own while living there. After returning to the US, we sold our home in San Jose and moved to our property in Dorris, California. There, I was able to develop my oil painting skills and learn a few new mediums such as Watercolor and Alcohol Ink.
From 2016-2018, we lived in Santa Barbara where I became a member of 3 local art groups. I began painting en Plein Air with a group of artists known as S.C.A.P.E who paint for the environment. Additionally, I became a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association that gave me a place to show 2 pieces of art each month at Gallery 113 downtown and begin to sell my art.
This past year, my husband’s work brought us back to the Bay Area in May 2019. I now paint with the Los Gatos Plein Air Group and the Sunnyvale Art Club. Always eager to learn new techniques and keep current with my art through interaction with other artist.
