“ I have become unstuck in time.
Working with wet plate collodion makes me feel like an alchemist. It requires lots of physical activity, as well as extensive preparation and cleaning.” –Allan Barnes
I have been a photographer for almost four decades.
I am a former photojournalist from Detroit, Michigan, where I was a contributing photographer to the New York Times, Detroit Free Press, Spin, and Metropolis Magazine, but since 2010 have been a full time photography educator.
I also teach quarterly workshops in historic photo processes in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
I have exhibited my work most recently at the Light Box Photo Gallery in Astoria, Oregon, and the Image Flow in North Bay. I have also exhibited regularly in Los Angeles, CA, where my most recent exhibit was an installation of giant (8’ x 8’) prints of my work in a public park, Pershing Square. (10/2013)
A 2016 transplant to the South Bay, I have maintained a studio in the Willow Glen Area since late 2018.
