Elaine McCreight

As a painter and a poet, I’m interested in the overlaps of the felt, the imagined, and what we take to be real. Whether I begin with a model, a photograph, or markmaking, painting leads me to these places.

As a result, my work moves between abstraction and representation. In my more figurative paintings, I prefer to include only hints of narrative, and in all my art, I’m drawn to the archetypal more than the individual.

Working primarily in oils and cold wax and in acrylics, I paint to connect my experience with that of others. Concerned about our planet, I donate all my sales to groups who are working to protect the earth.
