Karen Valdez

I am a second-generation immigrant born and raised in Redwood City, California. I worked at the Siena Youth Center, a local community center with underprivileged kids of color. I aspire to become the representation I longed for when I was younger. Regardless of your background or financial situation, you can and will succeed if you decide. I am a semi-professional chalk artist with exceptional graphic design, photography, painting, and digital art skills. Since the chalk festival began, I have participated in Redwood City’s annual chalk festival, hosted by Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation. My work with the Siena Youth Center inspired me to use my skills to give the underprivileged and underrepresented the voice they deserve.
