Karin Taber
Karin Taber is a contemporary California artist and long-time member of the Stanford art community. She was born in New England and studied painting, printmaking, and jewelry design at the Rhode Island School of Design. She now divides her time between the SF Bay Area and San Diego. Her work is influenced by her coastal environments; she paints abstract seas and landscapes in a fluid, layered style. Her technique strives to emulate the dynamic movement and ethereal palette of the sea; she splashes, drips, scrapes, layers, and glazes paint with non-traditional tools, and infuses her works with metallics and minerals to create a glowing, energetic composition. Ultimately, her abstraction invites the viewer on an emotional journey to a distant time and place.
Taber’s works have been collected by national and international institutions and exhibited in contemporary art galleries and exhibition sites throughout the United States, including at Stanford University.
