My purpose as an artist is to offer beautiful and compelling creations that are inspiring, heart-warming and healing. Creating art and viewing art is healing for the soul and spirit thus helping create a more upbeat lens to view life and experiences. Art also touches on the transcendent and spiritual aspects of life fulfilling the need for something bigger than oneself.
The influences in the current body of work come from the ground to the sky. Subconsciously drawn to the organic and the natural world, I have created works that include many elements of nature. There is something each painting wants to become, something that cannot be imposed.
What I love about abstract painting is that I don’t know how the piece will evolve. Every blank canvas begins with the same meditation on texture, color, depth and direction. And so, I listen. It is an expansive process. Every moment holds infinite possibility. Every choice invites the next. There is a fluidity to my process, an intuitive sense that directs my hand to lead the way.
No matter the materials used in each mixed media painting, or the use of oil and beeswax, the results are very much in the realm of abstraction.
