Roe v. Wade
Inspired by my real-life experience as a pregnant student in 1969. I had to find a "back-alley" solution to end a date rape pregnancy (in those days we didn’t have that terminology). The Roe v. Wade story begins with me in the doctor’s office as he confirms that I am pregnant. This mixed media collage features toys, photo copies, watercolors, acrylic paint and ink.

Jan Michaels
For the last few years at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, I have been exploring a variety of art forms. I’ve taken my 40 years as a designer of women’s fashion jewelry and transformed it into a new creative passion.
My collaged pieces have become expressions of life experiences and from my study of history, art and spirituality. My extensive collection of objects like vintage toys, metal motifs, beads and found items, along with paint and paper combine to make a world of possibilities. I get lost in the process where my imagination and the unexpected lead the way. Here you’ll find recent works in 3D and 2D collage, and of course my first love – jewelry.
