Artist Statement
I have been painting with acrylics since 2020. It feels freer than working with oil paints, and I like the options for experimentation. I start painting and let the images emerge, building up layers, often painting over and starting again. My work is usually landscapes or seascapes and I am often reminded of places I've been. If strange objects or curious creatures show up, it is a welcome surprise. The process feels like an adventure, and at times can be frustrating, a struggle with the materials, a struggle with my unconscious!
