Glynis Takalo
In Glynis’s younger years she was exposed to many forms of art by relatives, and this has led her to working with a lot of mediums: ceramic, watercolors, pencil, pastel, gourds. No matter what medium she worked in, they always seem to turn into abstract art.
When she found fluid art style, the art of pouring acrylic paints on canvas or any kind of material, it was like someone turned on the lights and she could see her path clearly, finally find a way to let go and enjoy the process as well as the finished product.
The creating of Fluid Art frees your soul to flow with the colors of life. She wants the colors to draw the audience in, to feel them, the calm, the fury, the sadness, the joy with each person seeing and feeling them a little different than the next. This also led her to working with resin.
Being deeply inspired by the raw beauty and wildness of the Pacific Ocean and passion for capturing the fluidity and majesty of ocean life has led her to experiment with resin allowing her to bring the artwork to life in three dimensions. By combining the tactile texture of sand and shell with the glossy, reflective qualities of colored resin thus creating immersive ocean scene that evoke a sense of movement and depth.
