Tendril Studios was formed in 2010 as a collaboration exploring product and interior design. It is currently a solo art practice.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, the Bay Lands and the Santa Cruz Mountains, I walk with my eyes open. I rummage and gather, exploring patterns, imperfection and decay. Often beginning with salvaged and utilitarian materials, I use a flatbed scanner to capture and print images with a unique depth of field and on a grand scale for residential and commercial spaces. I also touch and shape these unlikely materials, such as old wire, moth-eaten sweaters, rope, bicycle inner tubes and automotive drive belts into sculptures that record the tension between fragility and resilience. Visual metaphors in the work speak to existential struggles with time, nature and each other. I use the practice to process my daily experiences, find solace and feed my endless intellectual curiosity of the arts, economy, politics, psychology, the sciences, technology and engineering.
