Art has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. Recognizing my passion, my parents enrolled me in art classes early on, and my first formal training began at The Wheeler School in Providence, RI. There, I was honored to join the Art Major program, an intensive three-year experience that immersed me in creating art daily. One of the most formative aspects was the weekly figure drawing sessions with live models, where I discovered the joy of creating within a vibrant community of artists.
Although encouraged to attend art school, I chose Tufts University, where I studied art under professors from the Boston Museum School while exploring other academic interests. This path ultimately led me to graduate school at the College of Notre Dame, where I earned dual degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Art Therapy.
For over two decades, raising my three children left little uninterrupted time for art. Now, as a parent of adult children, I’ve returned to my artistic practice with renewed focus. Since joining Art Bias in February 2022, I’ve been inspired by the creative energy of this artist community. My recent work centers on figurative and portrait painting, where I’m captivated by how subtle shifts in facial features transform expression and character. There’s nothing quite like losing myself in the creative process—when time and self seem to dissolve entirely.
