Michael Strom-Berg is a San Jose-based artist who skillfully works with both wood and glass to create unique, handcrafted pieces that reflect his deep appreciation for nature’s beauty. Specializing in woodturning, Michael’s passion for the craft has evolved over many years, with a focus on bowl turning for the past four. Using a lathe in his home workshop, he transforms both found and exotic woods into one-of-a-kind bowls and candle holders, each piece showcasing the intricate and captivating patterns found in nature. His wood art is meticulously finished with either Carnauba wax or a blend of linseed oil and beeswax to ensure lasting beauty.

In addition to his woodwork, Michael discovered glassblowing during the COVID-19 pandemic as a new outlet for creativity and a way to maintain his mental clarity. Through this new medium, he has begun creating hand-blown glass bowls, each a unique expression of color and form. Michael continues to explore and refine his skills in both glass and wood, relishing the freedom of self-expression and the joy that comes with each new creation.
