Pragati Sharma Mohanty
Pragati Sharma Mohanty
Pragati is a firebrand ‘Maximalist-Miniaturist’ painter, turning blank canvases into intricate, eye-popping universes. Her labor-intensive style fuses mysterious motifs, patterns, and vibrant colors—bold at first glance, but layered with deep, meditative narratives. Feminism, Spirituality, and Mythology pulse through her work, flavored with French Art Naïf, Indian Folk Art, ancient scripts, and prehistoric cave art. Her art doesn’t just dazzle—it speaks, intrigues, and commands attention.
Beyond the canvas, Pragati is a force of creativity—an architect, industrial designer (NID Ahmedabad alum), Indian folk arts teacher, and (recently) an author. She’s crafting a colossal 75-painting Ramayana series while also designing wearable art—scarves, shrugs, jewelry, and home décor infused with a cultural soul. Oh, and because painting an epic wasn’t ambitious enough, she’s also working on a coffee table book featuring all of her Ramayana paintings, packed with rare, research-based stories that bring the epic to life.
Her work has graced the Walt Disney Family Museum for three years and continues to turn heads worldwide. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she creates, teaches, and keeps the world on its toes—one mesmerizing masterpiece at a time.
