Michelle Tidwell

An artist and painter for decades, I am inspired by the nature of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains and California Central Coast region, as well as scenes from my travels abroad. I work mostly in oils on canvas in my studio, using my own reference photos. My paintings are representational and gestural in nature, done in a loose painterly style. Recently I have focused on scenes from the Central Coastal areas of California. I also enjoy Plein Air painting in watercolor and acrylics, so another set of my work was done primarily on location or from photographs I’ve taken in the countries I’ve visited. I’ve travelled to various regions of France, Italy and most recently, Spain, to paint the beautiful scenery and towns.

Amidst the turmoil of life, there is so much beauty in this world, and I hope to capture some of it in my works.
