Aerial Formation
This maple burl platter received a color treatment to accentuate the contrast in the burl patterns.
Burl Edge
This eucalyptus burl piece shows the transition from the darker heartwood to the light sapwood, with the burl eyes showing on the surface. A rim of blackwood is added as a finishing touch.
Cat Lady Vase
This vase is at once decorative and functional. It features 2 lovely ladies - one holding a basket with an orange tabby cat over her head and the other featuring a large up-do. It has 2 large openings for flowers and multiple smaller openings for additional stems.
Cypress Container
This lidded container in cypress includes a redwood burl insert on the lid.
Desert Winds
I came across this scene near Anza Borrego Desert State Park. There was something ironic about the decaying trailer with modern windmills whirring a short distance behind it. And beyond those beacons of man's ingenuity and persistence was the demanding, austere beauty of the desert.
Elegy
This work is drawn from the gardens of the Heian Shrine in Kyoto. It is a remembrance for a lost loved one.Acrylic on canvas, custom framed.
Flowers #3
This is one of a series of three paintings, inspired by the flowers we see in our rea after a rainy winter.
Gas Pump Globes
Oil on linen panel. Framed. These were lit up in a colorful row in the Gas Pump Museum in Embudo, New Mexico. $295
Gelato Trio
Oil on pewter tray. Spied through a window in Florence on a painting trip to Italy, lucky me. This is one of my signature techniques painting pastries and other sweets directly onto discarded baking sheets and trays.
Hermes Leather
Inspired by Hermes Scarves. Deconstructed Jewelry, cleaned and re-constructed on washi paper. Each work contains a piece of silver, gold or a semi-precious stone.
JadeDragon
Deconstructed Jewelry is cleaned and reconstructed on washi paper. Each work contains a piece of silver, gold or a semi-precious stone.
John
This is a pencil portrait of a professional model named John. I have drawn him a number of times, and have almost always been happy with my work at the end. That is not so much a reflection of my abilities as it is a reflection on what a terrific model he is.
Just Give Me a Kiss
Functional and decorative at the same time, this lidded jar features two people sharing an embrace and a kiss. It is made from warm brown clay to which layers of texture, pattern and color were added.
Little Buddy
I don't normally paint animals, but I couldn't resist this little guy. He was standing next to a cow pony at a rodeo. He had that patient, resigned look that burros so often have I just wanted to throw my arms around him and hug him.
