Stacey Nussbaum uses pastels and more recently oils to paint colorful, textured landscapes of the South Bay Area and California Coast. If you hike or ride on local park trails you may notice scenes you recognize, since much of her inspiration comes from mountain biking near her home in San Jose. Stacey studied art and social work at local community colleges and San Jose State University.

Acrylic and Oil. My first ever nude painting, inspired by a photo I saw online. Also accentuated the beauty of the feminine body.
This evocative mixed media artwork titled Moody Sky at Lexington Reservoir captures the dramatic essence of nature's changing moods. The artist skillfully blends watercolor, gouache, colored pencils, and markers to convey a stormy yet serene landscape. Soft washes of watercolor and gouache form the brooding sky, while colored pencil textures add depth to the lush green hills. Marker accents define the rippling water and grassy foreground, enhancing the sense of movement and atmosphere. The piece invites viewers to reflect on the quiet beauty of nature amid its unpredictability.
The scene evokes a sense of peace and quiet, inviting the viewer to share in the tranquil beauty of the marina at the end of a summer's day.

Noon at Eagle Falls captures the brilliance of a summer day in South Lake Tahoe, inspired by a visit in 2018. The midday sun glowed over the rushing water, highlighting the rugged rocks and lush surroundings. The contrast of light and shadow, the crisp mountain air, and the rhythmic cascade left a lasting impression. In this photo-realistic painting, I focused on the movement of water, the interplay of sunlight, and the rich textures of the landscape. Noon at Eagle Falls invites viewers to pause and experience the beauty and energy of this serene yet powerful moment in nature.
The trees were mostly barren, with only a few remaining leaves, but they sparkled like Christmas trees after a brief rain. This fleeting moment left me deep in thought and has been captured in my painting.
Our Lady of Guadalupe was created in honor of a recent trip to New Mexico where she surrounded us everywhere we went. A peaceful companion in my garden.
My hope with this piece was to capture the beautiful, peaceful light when the afternoon sun moves lower in the sky along the coast above Santa Cruz.
