Amy Brown-Assemblage/Collage
Amy Brown
Amy Brown is a self-taught artist working in soft sculpture and quilting. She often works from scrap fabrics and no patterns to achieve a surprise shape. Many of her pieces are not meant to live alone, but in colonies or collections. Expect bright colors, organic and unsettling shapes, and the whisper of cellophane streamers. This year she also has a clothing collection inspired by her exploration of soft textures.
Brown has shown at Empire Seven Studios, San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, SPARC LA, The Arsenal in San Jose, Two Cats El Cerrito and the Scope Art Fair in Miami. She also makes giant fruit and vegetable pillows under the moniker Jumbo Jibbles.
