Diane Levinson-Pottery/Ceramics
Diane Levinson
I have long been interested in the concept of Mingei. Mingei celebrates the “every-day-ness” of art—the belief that everyday objects and materials that often serve a useful purpose can also be objects of great beauty. I create sculptural forms, some utilitarian, some not. After more than 40 years of working with clay, I continue to be in awe of the limitless possibilities the material allows.
In addition, I continue to create one-of-a-kind ceramic pencils. Although they are not mingei…they do celebrate the “every-day-ness” and harken back to simpler times.
