Much of my current work the combines sterling silver and paper. The jewelry is light in weight and full of color.
Oxidized sterling silver wires are formed into petal or leaf shapes and soldered closed. That petal or leaf shape is flattened and then sandwiched between layers of paper and saturated with booking binding glue. Next it is sprayed with an acrylic with UV protection to seal. When dry the petal is trimmed and bent to shape. The wires give body and the paper becomes stiff and translucent. It is intended to look fragile but be resilient. The parts are assembled and move gently. The mood is light.
I also make jewelry using sterling alone or with carved wood and enamel. I have explored filigree and developed my own vocabulary within the technique. I will be showing early work as well as the most current.
