Bubble Community I
Blown in San Jose State University’s hotshop, this sculpture consists of a community of six glass bubbles resting on a seventh, larger, hyacinth bubble. This piece continues to explore the metaphor of bubbles shaping each other similarly to how we as humans influence each other.

James Vreeland
The Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI) provides accessible, hands-on glass experiences that educate and inspire current and future generations of students, artists, patrons, and our community.
Our Vision
The Bay Area Glass Institute is dedicated to our local community, providing accessible and educational hands-on experiences with the broadest choices of instruction, events, and rentals, in furnace glass, flameworking, fusing, casting, and cold working.
BAGI generates the funds it needs to operate, maintain its facility, and re-invest in programs that provide people access to glass art education such as our Scholarship Fund, Summer Camp, and Visiting Artist Series. BAGI earns revenue from classes and events, through grants funding from the City of San Jose and other arts and science organizations, and patrons who donate annually.
We are featuring the work of James Vreeland – @jmv.iii this year for open studios.
