Chrysanthemum – Remembrance
Chrysanthemums symbolize remembrance, and white chrysanthemums, particularly, represent loyalty and love. Theyre also associated with the fall season, which can bring cheerfulness during the darker days of the year. As I painted this, I thought of my brother, who lost his battle with cancer in 2021. I spent time reflecting on the cherished moments we shared when we were little. The photo reference I used came from a bouquet I created during a flower arranging class I took with friends.

Renee Switkes
Since entering the professional scene in August 2021, Renée has actively integrated into the Silicon Valley art community, drawing inspiration from personal encounters and nature. While primarily creating for personal fulfillment, collectors have recognized the impact of her work. Her paintings have been displayed at several galleries, and Voss Gallery represents her work. Renée has also received recognition for her work with two platinum and two bronze awards. Her paintings have been collected by private collectors across the globe, from France to India and in various locations in the United States. Her acceptance two years in a row into the state-wide competition and salon by the Triton Museum in Santa Clara is a testament to her dedication and skill.
Renée says that painting flowers helps her slow down and enjoy nature’s simple beauty. It also nourishes her desire for others to feel joy and connect more deeply when they view her paintings.
