My passion is making beautiful spaces and things. Recently, my (quilt making) sister Dana and I took a "craft-cation" to Penland School of Craft and learned the ins and outs of making fabric with used bike tubes and used billboard material. We’ve pocketed the billboard material lining and fashioned the stitched tubes and affixed lining into totes for: pickleball, gym supplies, climbing supplies, baby needs, dopp kits, groceries and more. The materials together are lovely and super durable and "feed the need" to recycle what was once trash.
I also build containers to hold and compliment the earth’s best: food, plants, and flowers. I slump clay slabs over forms, manipulate coils, and cut shapes to give my pieces whimsy and character. I am inspired by the geometry within the natural world and especially by sea folk. My clay and glaze choices allow the held items to take center stage.
