Garden By the Cabin
This small original painting is in gouache, a water -based medium which has a chalk-like finish with brilliant color. I enjoyed capturing the colors of the flowers blooming in the summertime by a cabin in Tahoe. Gouache paintings work best when painted in a small format. This 5×7" is framed in a dark frame with plexiglass to protect the painting.

Vineyards by old barns, flowers cascading from windows and doorways, marshlands and oceans with cloud-filled skies, all executed in bold compositions with brilliant color characterize my work. I love vivid color and use luscious oil paints to make a special scene eternal. There is nothing I enjoy more than pushing oil paint around a canvas, especially when working in the solitude of nature, painting “plein air” on location. My paintings, both realistic and impressionistic, are filled with the joy I feel when capturing a moment in time.
I have painted professionally for over 30 years, exhibiting in juried shows. Art trips to Southern France early in my career led me to start painting sunflowers and fields of lavender before each became trendy. My work has been featured on event posters, for promotion at Northern California wineries, on telephone directory covers, and used in products by a variety of companies. My paintings are part of private and corporate collections in the U.S. and internationally. I also enjoy painting on commission for private clients and businesses. I have painted in locations around the world – but my subject of preference is always the beauty of Northern California: vineyards ablaze with color or coastal scenes of the area north of Half Moon Bay where I currently reside.
