“Le jardin de ma mre
This is an abstract painting I made with my new color palette using mostly palette knives. As usual, I played with colors and shapes without specific ideas in mind.At the end, I saw flowers blooming and coming out of the canvas. It reminded me of the garden of my childhood in France, in Brittany, with the little blue Bleuets (Cornflowers), the red Pivoines (Peonies), the white Armes (Aromas), the pink and mauve Anemones, the yellow Jonquilles (Daffodils) and the delicate Venetian pink of the fragrant Roses.

Anne Pegolotti
I am a self-taught artist. Painting was first a hobby, but It has become a passion.
Being native from Brittany, the western peninsula of France, the ocean and its changing colors are a big part of my inspiration. I love the sea, it’s my element. But I love cities too with their architecture, colors and people…
I like to give movement and vibrant colors to my paintings whether it is abstract or figurative.
I have a predilection for red and turquoise. Those colors create dramatic and luminous effects.
I use acrylic and love working with textures, unmixed colors, using a brush and sometimes a palette knife to give something to imagine and to dream. Lines and colors can express an emotion, a sensation, beyond the painting itself.
Five of my paintings have been juried and published in the annual American Artwork magazine in 2021,2023 and 2024.
I’m an artist featured in the Mirada Art Gallery on Main Street in Half Moon Bay.
I’ll exhibit there from April 18 to April 29 2024.
