Little Buddy
I don’t normally paint animals, but I couldn’t resist this little guy. He was standing next to a cow pony at a rodeo. He had that patient, resigned look that burros so often have I just wanted to throw my arms around him and hug him.

Nancy Wagstaff
My travels to remote and emptier parts of the western U.S. are the source and inspiration for my paintings. Although the subject matter for my paintings might seem disparate, it is united by a sense of the not too distant past that we, as Americans, share. I am drawn to objects and scenes that not only speak of another time and place, but that ask the viewer to contemplate the beauty, dignity, and mystery of their existence. The vast and empty expanses of the West can also can be the subject matter of my paintings. And when I am between paintings, I enjoy portrait drawing.
