Ellen Howard
Award winning, Northern California artist Ellen Howard is recognized for her tranquil and peaceful paintings that reflect the beauty found in nature. She is curious about the transitory elements of nature and loves going on hikes to discover quiet unexplored areas. She favors the irregularity of nature, the ragged rocks, and muddy waters of the marshlands and ever-changing sky.
Ellen is represented at Carmel Fine Art in Carmel, CA, and Holton Studio Gallery in Berkeley, CA. She is an Artist member and the VP of the California Art Club. Her work has been showcased in the past seven California Art Club’s Annual Gold Medal Exhibitions, Salmagundi, and AIS. She has had two solo exhibitions at the Peninsula Museum of Art and Mendocino Art Center. Her work has been highlighted in Fine Art Connoisseur, Plein Air Magazine, Modern Impressionist Magazine, and American Art Collectors.
Ellen is passionate about promoting the arts and regularly curates’ exhibitions and special events. She competes in national plein air competitions, and teaches weekly fine art classes and plein air workshops both abroad and domestically. Her monthly newsletter is highly regarded and widely read.
