My interest in Painting began in the 8th grade when I was introduced to it through the pictures of one of my classmate who had bought in her paintings for "Show and Tell". I was very exited by what I saw and resolved to try my hand at painting too. I began by copying pictures from history books using watercolor. I really enjoyed doing these copies and so my parents encouraged my interest by providing me with "Paint by Number" kits.
By the time I entered High school, my family was living in Manhattan. N.Y.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art was close by and became my " home away from home" . I used every opportunity to visit the galleries to study and copy the paintings on display there… a wonderful training ground. When I entered College I chose Art as my Minor.
Despite this academic training , I feel that I am mostly self taught as there were long intervals when I did not engage in any art activity. I returned to full time painting 3 years ago after resigning position with a local publishing company.
I consider myself mostly an Impressionist Painter. My main subject interest is "Landscapes" which I try to capture through Light and Color. I work both Pleine Air and Studio. My Medium is both Watercolor and Acrylic.
I am a member of the SWA, Burlingame Art Society , Peninsula Outdoor Painters(POPS) and Half Moon Bay Plein Air Painters groups.
I have begun to entered my paintings in various Judged competitions and some of my paintings have been accepted and won awards.
