The Guiding Light of Hope
Oil painting on canvas – The painting shows a young girl, born to immigrant parents, embrace the flag and choose America as a beacon of light, finding optimism when faced with crucial choices and look out into the gloomy darkness to Lady Liberty for that glimmer of hope.

Christine Ong-Dijcks
My work offers comfort and fun through warm, vibrant paintings of places and people and colorful, whimsical images of our wonderfully complex world.
I am inspired by the three continents of my life. My Filipino heritage inspires me to see humor, beauty, and wonder in the smallest of things or gestures. Through my family travels I discovered expansive landscapes and skies across Europe and find inspiration in the drama of light and dark in Rembrandt’s paintings contrasted with the fun and playful strokes of Van Gogh. And, living in the Bay Area I see and capture a unique perspective on globalization, inequality and the impact of technology on our world.
In my paintings I try to capture all of this with bold colors and creative imagery.
