Yellow Pufferfish
This ceramic puffer fish was hand-built using porcelain paper clay in my studio in 2020. Created for the Art Guild of Pacificas Fall 2020 Members Show, the piece features a bright yellow puffer fish in its puffed-up state, complete with a whimsical and expressive face. The intricate texture and rounded form capture the playful and curious nature of this unique marine creature. The use of paper clay allowed for delicate details and a lightweight yet durable finish, adding to its charm and appeal.

My work celebrates the vibrant intersection of biodiversity, whimsy, and conservation. Inspired by marine life and unusual creatures, I use bold colors and intricate details to bring animals to life. Through clay, printmaking, and painting, I strive to spark curiosity and joy while fostering a deeper connection to the natural world’s beauty and fragility.
Drawing inspiration from scientific illustration, Japanese block printing, and illustrated children’s books, my creative process combines playful experimentation and storytelling. Visitors to my studio will discover a mix of colorful sculptures, paintings, and prints, as well as a unique opportunity to browse through over a decade of printmaking artist proofs. These unframed proofs, presented in random piles, are affordable, original works of art ready to find a new home in your collection.
In my small working studio, complete with a printing press, I’ll share the process behind my prints and may even create something new during Open Studios. Alongside my prints, you’ll find handmade ceramics fresh from the kiln—ranging from fun, giftable items to one-of-a-kind fine art. My art invites you to connect with the wonders of the natural world while celebrating its charm, resilience, and fragility.
