I keep getting the login fail page
Look at the address bar in the browser and make sure you are typing https://svos.org/register and nothing more. Sometimes the browser remembers the last page it was on and forces the rest of the wrong address.
Do I need different emails for public and private fields on the contact page?
The public and private email fields can be the same, or the public email can be blank if you don’t want it to appear on the website. Keep in mind that the private email field is used as the username for your login.
Why don’t I get the newsletters?
Always check your spam folder first. Keep in mind that the registration confirmation is a direct email but we send a few marketing emails, webinar, and event emails via Constant Contact. It has an unsubscribe button at the bottom. We find some people accidentally unsubscribe from these newsletters. Send us a note at info@svos.org if you think you are not getting these. Keep in mind that the email you use as your login is the one that is used for the emails. You can login and change it when you register.
How do I choose a location?
The registration walks through the process step by step. If you have a home studio and would like to open it and this is your first time showing with SVOS, you will be given a prompt to request a number for your address. That gives us the action item to assign a number to your studio. We will notify you when that happens.
If you have shown with us before at your studio and want to do so again, choose your address by clicking on the city space, selecting your city from the drop down menu, then clicking on the address space and selecting your address from that drop down menu. Note: addresses are in numerical order based on the FIRST number of the street number. For instance, a street number of 1175 will be above a number of 230.
Can I sign up before I know where I will exhibit?
Yes, you can finish the registration process without finalizing your location. If you are a first time exhibitor and need to get a site number for your studio, use the button on the bottom of the location page to request a site number. This is a manual process so you will hear from Member Support when it is available. Then you can come back and select your address on the appropriate weekend.

If you prefer to exhibit at another location, you can check this box within each of the weekend sections. Keep in mind that it is your responsibility to follow up with the available hosts on the Host Connector page that will be in the left sidebar when you log back in after finishing your registration.

Member Support is available to assist in the process but it is really up to the hosts and exhibiting artists to work out the details. We make every effort to get artists placed in at least one location.
How do I find a host?
PLEASE DO NOT SELECT AN ADDRESS AT RANDOM FROM THE DROP DOWN MENU. You need to arrange a hosting site with the individual host before you can list any site number that is not your own studio.
Do not select an address at all. Click on the box that indicates you need help finding a host for each week that you need a host
That will add you to the ‘Needs Host’ list.
You can find the ‘Needs Host’ list tab in the menu on the left hand side of the registration home page after you have completed registration and logged back in. You can see who is hosting there as well. If you see a host who you think would be a good fit, you can email them to open a dialog about showing there.
What to do if you can’t find an exhibiting location?
The SVOS volunteers do their best to assist you by introducing you to hosts but the decision is ultimately up to the artists themselves. If this is your first time and you’re nervous about showing, we have resources and guidelines available on how to have a successful open studio. If you have some extra room and are a little adventurous then consider hosting artists at your location. One of the benefits of SVOS participation is learning from the other artists. Keep an eye out for upcoming webinars on this subject.
Can I show at multiple locations?
Yes, you can show at multiple locations at no extra charge. You can also show on multiple weekends at your location. Please check our geographic focus areas for advertising as this may influence your decision. You can also check with artists in your area to see if it is a good idea.
Check out the host connector page that appears in the left sidebar after you register. You can see hosts that are offering exhibit space at their home or studio. If you already know artists, reach out to them directly before adding a weekend at their site on the location page. If you mutually agree to being hosted, then go back and select their location for the agreed weekend.
Please keep in mind that we encourage hosts to prioritize helping us place all artists with their first weekend before adding artists requesting second weekends.
Why am I not getting the email announcements about webinars?
We send updates out often during the registration process. We want you to hear about preview shows, training sessions, and any upcoming artist gatherings. Our first answer is always check your spam folder and settings. The email comes from info@svos.org. If you aren’t receiving these emails then see the section below about resubscribing.
How do I resubscribe to the email and newsletters?
The registration system sends an email directly. After that, you will receive updates via our Constant Contact updates. If you have accidentally unsubscribed to the newsletter, we can send you a resubscribe from Constant Contact. Please send an email to registration@svos.org to request this. Watch for the email and check your spam folder. Due to spam regulations, we only get one chance to get you back onboard.
How to upload my images?
No HEIC (new iPhone users, check your settings),
what is too small – less than 1000 pixels wide, keep in mind that images look better when they are bigger.
square is better, 8MB maximum.
The form only accepts jpg or png.
Be careful when cropping images to make sure you still have more than 1000px width and height. It looks better to have just the artwork and not any matt, frames, or distracting backgrounds. For 3D artwork, avoid having backgrounds that compete with your artwork.
Look at the size after you crop to make sure it’s still big enough.
Can I register to exhibit after the deadline?
Yes, you can register to exhibit after the deadline and your art and location information will appear on the website but not in the printed directory. We don’t recommend this for first time exhibitors unless you have an established studio or are exhibiting with others. The most successful artists invest in marketing their space and leveraging the online marketing that Silicon Valley Visual Arts does for the event. See the webinar for more information.
How to qualify for a Promo Code?
The promo code field in the checkout section of the SVOS registration system is used for students who have submitted a verification of enrollment and for large studio groups that have negotiated a discount for their group. These are groups of 25 to 30 artists.
Why does registration close in January for a May event?
We close registration at the end of January so that we can reconcile the data for over 300 artists and get the print directory distributed before the May event.
