Ann Miller
I am a San Francisco Bay Area artist, designer, and educator. My painting is explorative, using a natural palette, with an affinity for the human figure as well as ancient signs and symbols. Visit my website at pennib.com.
My painting and printmaking instructors were Nathan Oliveira, Richard Diebenkorn, Frank Lobdell, George Miyasaki, Dan Mendelowitz, Duane Wakeham, Viktor Arnautoff, and Alan Appleton. I studied independently with text artists Brody Neuenschwander, Ward Dunham, Denis Brown, Carl Rohrs, Jacqueline Svaren, Robert Williams, Thomas Ingmire, Jovica Veljovic, Liesbet Boudens, Julian Waters, Yves Leterme, and many others.
Currently I teach online at Stanford Continuing Studies: Art 50 – Calligraphy & Letterform and Art 53 – Calligraphy Design and Norse Runes. Over the past 25 years I’ve developed and taught text art courses and workshops with Academy of Art University, San Francisco Center for the Book, and the Bay Area Friends of Calligraphy guild.
