Helen Bellaver

Ive been making art all my life. Ive always been attracted to black, I used India ink as a child and it has always been my go to color, if you well. Today I paint on canvas, board and Arches watercolor paper. Working with my chromatic black against blues, soft grays and white that I often call cream. I seldom make small sketches but paint directly on my pre-textured canvas. I let the canvas and paint lead me to completion. Its a dance of pure emotion and inspired by my life and emotions, always hard to explain. But being in my studio is awesome and is my life work.
Last year I was Honored to have my work on paper Red Kimono commissioned for the movie SHARPER on Apple TV. The expanded mixed media painting on wood panel is 60"X48"
I recently published my first art book that has been a big success. My book well be available in my studio year round and during our upcoming Open Studios this May, 2024.
