Barbara Kibbe

I am a painter, a printmaker, and an art quilter. I paint and print on a range of fine art papers, fabrics, and other substrates. A single work often combines zinc plate monoprint with screen printing, block printing, hand coloring and/or stitching. Scale is relative; the most intimate prints can suggest broad landscapes and larger works can explore a microscape. For me, art-making is equal parts sense-making and solace. My most successful work springs from an internal truth that is tethered to external reality. I don’t know where I’m heading when I pick up my tools, but along the way the work reveals something about me and my experience of the world and that also resonates with viewers.
