Susan Hatfield
Susan Hatfield
Sue only displays original watercolors. She works on site and in her studio. She especially enjoys plein air painting. Her works are original compositions. She may sometimes paint from her own photographs. She paints on archival paper and uses quality water colors. However, it is best to hang your painting out of direct or strong natural light to protect the colors from fading.
Sue paints with the Half Moon Bay Plein Air Painters. She has studied with Mary Kay Jolley, Susan Johnson, Sue Matthews, Steve Curl, Robert Dvorak, and Tom Lynch. She is a member of the Coastal Arts League.
Her work has been seen in the Coastal Arts League HMB Plein Air Painters Show, the Coastside Land Trust Show, the Teacher Art Show, and the CAL Member Show.
Sue enjoys the challenges, frustrations, and freedoms of painting with watercolors. Eric Greenhut and the Half Moon Bay Plein Air Painters introduced her to the ultimate delight of painting on site and capturing the sunshine, clouds, birds, surf, mist, and wind swirling about. Painting her impression of the atmosphere of that day continues to enthrall her.
Discovering the beauty in the ordinary makes studio painting entrancing, as well. Painting the textures and forms of household items, fruits, vegetables, flowers and even sea shells always intrigues and challenge her. Each painting has personal meaning. Perhaps you will find your own meaning.
Sue hopes you enjoy viewing her paintings as much as she enjoys creating them.
