Surf’s Up
This painting is a replication of the 1948 Mercury Safari Wagon that my family owned when I was a youngster. My older sister and I used to surf at Santa Cruz in the 1960’s.

Article Profile: Dennis Nugent
Throughout much of my life I have dabbled with art projects, including ceramics and painting.
After retirement I started taking classes from successful local artists through Pacific Art League and other organizations. That allowed me to explore different media while increasingly concentrating on painting with watercolors.
My goal is to paint eye-catching scenes with vivid color and good composition. I often paint detail-oriented pet portraits, seascape and ocean scenes, and rustic barns among other areas of interest.
This is the first time I’ve participated in Silicon Valley Open Studio. I look forward to continuing to develop my painting skills.
